ABSTRACT

Objective@#The aim of this study was to identify the factors related to suicidal ideation targeting the risk group showing suicidal ideation despite the absence of depression in Korean workers. @*Methods@#The data of 14,425 participants who were employees aged of 18 to 75 years who attended a mental health checkup program at the Workplace Mental Health Institute, Kangbuk Samsung Hospital from June 2015 to October 2019 were analyzed. A self-report questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic factors, suicidal ideation, job stress, levels of depression and anxiety, and resilience was administered. A Hierarchical logistic regression model was used with suicidal ideation as dependent variable. Separate analyses were conducted according to depressive symptoms using the 20-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) scale. @*Results@#Being women, older, and having low resilience, more perceived stress, more severe anxiety and less sleeping hours were associated with suicidal ideation in no-depression group (CES-D <16). In the subcategories of job stress, lack of reward was significantly associated with suicidal ideation in no-depression group. @*Conclusion@#This study identified the characteristics of a group that has no depression but has suicidal ideation in Korean workers. Among job stress items, lack of reward is a clear characteristic to be considered with caution in this group.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To develop an integrated and comprehensive community-based mental healthcare model, opinions were collected on various issues from practitioners in mental health service institutions currently offering mental healthcare services in Seoul through a focus group interview, qualitative research method, and Delphi survey. @*Methods@#The focus group interview was conducted with six practitioners from mental health welfare centers and six hospital-based psychiatrists. A questionnaire of opinions on the mental healthcare model was filled by these practitioners and psychiatrists. A Delphi survey was additionally conducted with a panel of 20 experts from a community mental health welfare center and hospital-based psychiatrists. @*Results@#The focus group interview results showed the need for integrated community-based mental healthcare service and the need to establish a system for managing mental and physical health in an integrated manner. Based on the survey results, the current status of community-based mental healthcare services was investigated, and the direction of the revised model was established. The Delphi survey was then conducted to refine the revised model. @*Conclusion@#The present study presents the Seoul-type community-based mental healthcare model with integrated services between a psychiatric hospital with a mental health welfare center as well as combined mental and physical health services. This is ultimately expected to help people with mental illnesses live healthy lives by meeting their needs as community members.

ABSTRACT

Background@#The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of vanishing twin (VT) on maternal serum marker concentrations and nuchal translucency (NT). @*Methods@#This is a secondary analysis of a multicenter prospective cohort study in 12 institutions. Serum concentrations of pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A in the first trimester and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), total human chorionic gonadotrophin, unconjugated estriol, and inhibin A in the second trimester were measured, and NT was measured between 10 and 14 weeks of gestation. @*Results@#Among 6,793 pregnant women, 5,381 women were measured for serum markers in the first or second trimester, including 65 cases in the VT group and 5,316 cases in the normal singleton group. The cases in the VT group had a higher median multiple of the median value of AFP and inhibin A than the normal singleton group. The values of other serum markers and NT were not different between the two groups. After the permutation test with adjustment,AFP and inhibin A remained significant differences. The frequency of abnormally increased AFP was also higher in the VT group than in the normal singleton group. @*Conclusion@#VT can be considered as an adjustment factor for risk assessment in the secondtrimester serum screening test.

ABSTRACT

Background@#We sought to identify the influence of prepregnancy glucose levels on obstetric complications in subsequent pregnancy. @*Methods@#Women in Republic of Korea who had given birth between January 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2010 were enrolled. The database of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service and data from a national health screening program for infants and children were used. Subjects were divided into seven groups according to their fasting glucose levels. @*Results@#59,619 women were included for analysis, and 10.4%, 13.7%, 19.1%, 21.5%, 16.0%, 11.6%, and 7.5% women had glucose levels of 100 mg/dL. Each 5 mg/dL increase in prepregnancy fasting glucose levels was associated with increased risk of gestational diabetes and macrosomia in subsequent pregnancy. Adjusted risk ratio for gestational diabetes per standard deviation prepregnancy glucose > 100 mg/dL was 2.015 (95% confidence interval, 1.649–2.462) and for macrosomia an adjusted risk ratio 1.389 (95% confidence interval, 1.147–1.682). @*Conclusion@#Higher prepregnancy glucose level within normal range was related to gestational diabetes and macrosomia in following pregnancy. Our results may aid in the identification of women at future risk of obstetric complications and may guide to stratify women into normal and intensified care.Tweetable abstractHigher prepregnancy glucose in normal range is associated with gestational diabetes and macrosomia.

ABSTRACT

Background@#To investigate the relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Korean women and childhood growth and obesity of their offspring. @*Methods@#This longitudinal case-control study using the Korean National Health Insurance claims database and the National Health Screening Program for Infants and Children database included women who delivered singletons between January 2007 and December 2008. Offspring’s body mass index (BMI) measurements taken between 42 and 80 months of age were compared according to a maternal history of PCOS. @*Results@#Among a total of 131,805 participants, 1,213 women had a history of PCOS and 130,592 women did not. Female offspring aged 66–80 months born to women with PCOS had significantly higher BMI than those born to women without PCOS; there was no significant difference in that of male offspring regardless of maternal PCOS. In the generalized estimating equation and multivariable logistic regression analyses, the female offspring born to women with PCOS had a significantly higher risk of obesity during the age of 42–54 and 66–80 months (odds ratio [OR], 1.6; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09–2.21 and OR, 1.5; 95% CI, 1.05–2.15, respectively), than those born to women without PCOS, after adjusting for several confounding factors. @*Conclusion@#Maternal PCOS is independently associated with an increased incidence of childhood obesity in female offspring among Korean women. Women with PCOS should consider the risk of early childhood obesity in their daughters, even if they maintain a healthy weight themselves.

ABSTRACT

We report a case of a pseudoaneurysm secondary to skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) in an 82-year-old female. The patient was hospitalized with an acute episode of bleeding from the right ear, which persisted despite packing placed in the ear. We suspected bleeding from the internal carotid artery (ICA) and performed angiography, which revealed a pseudoaneurysm that presumably developed secondary to invasion of the wall of the petrous segment of the right ICA, and the patient underwent emergency coil embolization. Bleeding from the ear recurred a week later, and we performed repeat angiography, followed by embolization and deployment of multiple stents at the site of the pseudoaneurysm, which controlled the bleeding. Clinicians should be mindful of a pseudoaneurysm as a rare complication of SBO, following the spread of infection to adjacent soft tissues or vessels. A pseudoaneurysm should be considered in the differential diagnosis in patients with recurrent epistaxis or bleeding from the ears in addition to cranial nerve symptoms, and this condition warrants urgent evaluation.

ABSTRACT

Background@#There is no national survey on medical school faculty members’ burnout in Korea. This study aimed to investigate burnout levels and explore possible factors related to burnout among faculty members of Korean medical schools. @*Methods@#An anonymous online questionnaire was distributed to 40 Korean medical schools from October 2020 to December 2020. Burnout was measured by a modified and revalidated version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey. @*Results@#A total of 996 faculty members participated in the survey. Of them, 855 answered the burnout questions, and 829 completed all the questions in the questionnaire. A significant number of faculty members showed a high level of burnout in each sub-dimension: 34% in emotional exhaustion, 66.3% in depersonalization, and 92.4% in reduced personal accomplishment. A total of 31.5% of faculty members revealed a high level of burnout in two sub-dimensions, while 30.5% revealed a high level of burnout in all three sub-dimensions.Woman faculty members or those younger than 40 reported significantly higher emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Long working hours (≥ 80 hours/week) showed the highest reduced personal accomplishment scores (F = 4.023, P = 0.018). The most significant stressor or burnout source was “excessive regulation by the government or university.” The research was the most exasperating task, but the education was the least stressful. @*Conclusion@#This first nationwide study alerts that a significant number of faculty members in Korean medical schools seem to suffer from a high level of burnout. Further studies are necessary for identifying the burnout rate, related factors, and strategies to overcome physician burnout.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#We assessed prenatal detection rates of congenital heart disease (CHD) and associations between maternal serum biomarkers and non-chromosomal CHD in singleton pregnancies. @*Materials and Methods@#This study was conducted as a secondary analysis of data obtained during a multicenter prospective cohort study that investigated the cost-effectiveness of prenatal testing for fetal aneuploidy. We analyzed the prenatal detection rate and accuracy for CHD screening via ultrasound during the second trimester, as well as associations between serum biomarkers and CHDs, in singleton newborns without chromosomal abnormalities. @*Results@#Among 6715 women, 142 (2.1%) newborns were born with CHDs, of which 67 (1.0%) newborns had major CHDs. The prenatal detection rate for all CHDs and major CHDs were 34.5% and 58.2%, respectively. After excluding isolated ventricular septal defects, the detection rate for critical CHDs was 85.9%. Women with low pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A) (<0.4 multiples of the median, MOM) face increased risks of non-chromosomal CHDs [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 2.76; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.36–5.13] and major CHDs (aOR 7.30; 95% CI 3.18–15.59), compared to those without CHDs. A higher inhibin A level (≥2.5 MOM; aOR 4.84; 95% CI 1.42–12.46) was associated with non-chromosomal major CHDs. @*Conclusion@#Ultrasonography performed during the second trimester by obstetricians detected over 85% of critical CHDs. Low maternal serum PAPP-A or high inhibin-A was associated with non-chromosomal CHDs. These results may contribute to an improvement in prenatal diagnosis of CHDs.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To establish and to promote the qualitative development of a housing service model in South Korea. @*Methods@#The questionnaire was collected through the housing needs survey and the focus group interview on the mental health professions. We enrolled 365 subjects from 63 places (community conversion facilities, cohabitation, cohabitation families, hospitals, psychiatric nursing homes) to answer the questionnaires. @*Results@#The survey result confirms the needs of people with a mental illness to be self-reliant, but it shows that the economic vulnerability is a hindrance. In addition, the most necessary factor for self-reliant living is to provide services that support daily living. Therefore, the study points out that a system that guarantees self-reliance must be added in order for the housing services to be distributed throughout local communities for the people with mental illness. @*Conclusion@#The study proposes the Seoul-type housing services model to replace the housing services that functions in a fragmented manner with the provision of an integrated services through a unified channel by establishing a housing support center (tentative name). This will ultimately help people with a mental illness to live a healthy life that meets their needs as community members.

ABSTRACT

Background and Objectives@#There have been several studies on the factors affecting posttonsillectomy bleeding; however, investigations on the relationship between postoperative bleeding and diet are insufficient. Different countries have different types of food, and while there have been studies on the effects of diet in other countries, no such studies have been reported in Korea. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the relationship between Korean diet and postoperative bleeding after tonsillectomy.Subjects and Method To compare the postoperative bleeding outcomes, patients who underwent tonsillectomy by a single surgeon between January 2017 and 2020 were divided into those who had a diet restriction after surgery and those who had a free diet. Postoperative bleeding outcomes were divided according to the degree of intervention for hemostasis and compared. @*Results@#The study included 115 and 124 patients in the diet-restricted group and free-diet group, respectively. There were no statistical differences between the two groups in terms of gender, age, presence of snoring and frequent tonsillitis, and surgical method. Bleeding occurred in four patients in the diet-restricted group and three patients in the free-diet group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups in the frequency and severity of postoperative bleeding. @*Conclusion@#Since dietary restriction after tonsillectomy was not helpful to prevent postoperative bleeding, a free and sufficient diet after surgery may prove to be better.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#This study investigated the hospital use patterns of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections in Korea. The prevalence of HIV infections in Korea is very low and there is no data on the type of medical treatment HIV patients receive. We therefore decided to perform a complete enumeration of the utilization of medical facilities by HIV patients using a nationwide claims database. @*Methods@#The nationwide Health Medical Insurance Review and Assessment (HIRA) service claims database was used to identify and include all new patients with HIV infections from 2013 to 2018. The current inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service use of these patients were investigated. The number of invasive procedures, interventions, and operations performed on these patients, and their death rate, was also investigated. @*Results@#The number of patients visiting outpatient departments increased by 44% from 2013 to 2018. The most frequently visited department was internal medicine, followed by emergency medicine. Dental procedures followed intravenous line insertions as the most common procedures undertaken by patients with HIV. @*Conclusion@#The results of this study show the status of hospital visits by patients with HIV infections in Korea and provide the basic data upon which policy decisions can be based.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#: Hydrocephalus after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is known to be related to poor prognosis and mortality. We analyzed predictors of permanent hydrocephalus in the patients with surgically treated supratentorial ICH. @*Methods@#: From 2004 to 2019, a total of 414 patients with surgically treated primary supratentorial ICH were included. We retrospectively analyzed age, sex, preexisting hypertension and diabetes, location and volume of ICH, presence and severity of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), and type of surgery. @*Results@#: Forty patients (9.7%) required shunt surgery. Concomitant IVH was higher in the ‘shunt required’ group (92.5%) than in the ‘shunt not required’ group (67.9%) (p=0.001). IVH severity was worse in the ‘shunt required’ group (13.5 vs. 7.5, p=0.008). Craniectomy (47.5%) was significantly high in the ‘shunt required’ group. According to multivariable analysis, the presence of an IVH was 8.1 times more frequent and craniectomy was 8.6 times more frequent in the ‘shunt required’ group. In the comparison between craniotomy and craniectomy group, the presence of an IVH was related with a 3.9 times higher (p=0.033) possibility and craniectomies rather than craniotomies with a 7-times higher possibility of shunt surgery (p<0.001). Within the craniectomy group, an increase in the craniectomy area by 1 cm2 was correlated with a 3.2% increase in the possibility of shunt surgery (odds ratio, 1.032; 95% confidence interval, 1.005-1.061; p=0.022). @*Conclusion@#: Presence of IVH, the severity of IVH and decompressive craniectomy were related to the development of shunt dependent hydrocephalus in the patients with ICH. The increasing size of craniectomy was related with increasing rate of shunt requirement.

ABSTRACT

Background@#This study aimed to analyse the trends in changes of radiologic parameters according to age to predict factors affecting the progression of thoracolumbar kyphosis (TLK). @*Methods@#Records of patients with achondroplasia were retrospectively reviewed from July 2001 to December 2020. We measured imaging parameters (T10–L2 angle, sagittal Cobb angle, width, height, and number of wedge vertebrae, and apical vertebral translation [AVT]) of 81 patients with radiographically confirmed TLK. Based on the angle on X-ray taken in 36 months, 49 patients were divided into the progression group (P group, TLK angle ≥ 20°) and resolution group (R group, TLK angle < 20°). The mean values between the groups were compared using Student t-test, and the pattern of changes in each radiologic parameter according to age was analysed using a generalized estimating equation. @*Results@#Some imaging parameters showed significant differences according to age between P group and R group: T10–L2 angle (p < 0.001), sagittal Cobb angle (p < 0.001), AVT (p = 0.025), percentage of wedge vertebral height (WVH) (p = 0.018), and the number of severely deformed wedge vertebral bodies (anterior height less than 30% of posterior) (p = 0.037). Regarding the percentage of wedge vertebral widths (superior and inferior endplates), the difference between the two groups did not significantly increase with age, but regardless of age, it was higher in P group than in R group. @*Conclusions@#The difference in the TLK angle between P group and R group of the achondroplasia patients gradually increased with age. Among the imaging parameters, AVT and WVH could be factors that ultimately affect the exacerbation of kyphosis as the difference between the groups increased significantly over time.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#The risk of suicide is assessed by identifying the relationship between alcohol-use patterns and suicidal ideation in Korean employees. @*Methods@#The study involved 13,858 employees who underwent workplace mental health screening at the Workplace Mental Health Institute of Kangbuk Samsung Hospital over a 6-year period between 2014 and 2019. Analysis was performed separately for Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test-Korea (AUDIT-K) items related to the frequency/volume of alcohol consumption (items 1 to 3, AUDIT-C) and those regarding alcohol dependence/related problems (items 4 to 10, AUDIT-D/P). Subjects were then classified into three groups on the basis of the presence or absence of clinical depression and suicidal ideation. The groups’ sociodemographic factors and clinical features of depression, anxiety, and alcohol-use patterns were analyzed with a chi-square test as well as one-way analysis of variance, followed by a post hoc test using the Bonferroni correction. @*Results@#AUDIT-K and AUDIT-D/P scores were significantly associated with the presence or absence of clinical depression as well as the presence or absence of suicidal ideation (p<0.05). However, no significant differences were found among the three groups with regard to the AUDIT-C score (p=0.054). @*Conclusion@#Identifying or treating alcohol dependence/related problems can help lower the occurrence of mental health problems, and suicidal ideation in particular, in employees and reduce social costs.

ABSTRACT

Background@#People are generally considered overweight and obese if their body mass index (BMI) is above 25 kg/m 2 and 30.0 kg/m 2 , respectively. The World Health Organization proposed stricter criteria for Asians (≥ 23 kg/m2 : overweight, ≥ 25 kg/m2 : obese). We aimed to verify whether this criteria could predict adverse pregnancy outcomes in Korean women. @*Methods@#We included 7,547 Korean women from 12 institutions enrolled between June 2016 and October 2018. Women with no pre-pregnancy BMI data, not Korean, or lost to followup were excluded, leaving 6,331. The subjects were categorized into underweight, normal, overweight, class I obesity, and class II/III obesity based on a pre-pregnancy BMI of < 18.5, 18.5–22.9, 23.0–24.9, 25.0–29.9, and ≥ 30.0 kg/m2 , respectively. @*Results@#Overall, 13.4%, 63.0%, 11.8%, 9.1%, and 2.6% of women were underweight, normal, and overweight and had class I obesity and class II/III obesity, respectively. In the multivariable analysis adjusted for maternal age, a higher BMI significantly increased the risk of preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm delivery caused by maternal-fetal indications, cesarean section, large for gestational age, and neonatal intensive care unit admission. @*Conclusion@#Adverse pregnancy outcomes started to increase in those with a pre-pregnancy BMI ≥ 23.0 kg/m2 after adjusting for maternal age. The modified obesity criteria could help predict adverse pregnancy outcomes in Koreans.

ABSTRACT

Background@#The detrimental effects of excessive thyroid hormone on glucose metabolism have been widely investigated. However, the risk of diabetes in patients with long-standing hyperthyroidism, especially according to treatment modality, remains uncertain, with few longitudinal studies. @*Methods@#The risk of diabetes in patients with Graves’ disease treated with antithyroid drugs (ATDs) for longer than the conventional duration (≥2 years) was compared with that in age-and sex-matched controls. The risk was further compared according to subsequent treatment modalities after a 24-month course of ATD: continuation of ATD (ATD group) vs. radioactive iodine ablation (RIA) group. @*Results@#A total of 4,593 patients were included. Diabetes was diagnosed in 751 (16.3%) patients over a follow-up of 7.3 years. The hazard ratio (HR) for diabetes, after adjusting for various known risk factors, was 1.18 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.10 to 1.28) in patients with hyperthyroidism. Among the treatment modality groups, the RIA group (n=102) had a higher risk of diabetes than the ATD group (n=4,491) with HR of 1.56 (95% CI, 1.01 to 2.42). Further, the risk of diabetes increased with an increase in the ATD treatment duration (P for trend=0.019). @*Conclusion@#The risk of diabetes was significantly higher in patients with long-standing Graves’ disease than in the general population, especially in patients who underwent RIA and prolonged ATD treatment. Special attention to hyperglycemia during follow-up along with effective control of hyperthyroidism may be necessary to reduce the risk of diabetes in these patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To examine the changes in the cross-sectional area (CSA) ratio of the ankle invertors and evertors following rigid foot orthosis (RFO) application in children with symptomatic flexible flatfoot and to determine the correlation between the degree of change in CSA ratio and pain-severity after RFO application. @*Methods@#We included 24 children with symptomatic flexible flatfoot without comorbidities and measured the CSAs of tibialis anterior (TA), tibialis posterior (TP), and peroneus longus (PL) using ultrasonography, resting calcaneal stance position (RCSP) angle, calcaneal pitch (CP), Meary’s angle, talonavicular coverage angle, and talocalcaneal angle using radiography, and foot function index (FFI) at baseline and 12 months after RFO application. We analyzed 48 data by measuring both feet of 24 children. The CSA ratios, the ratio of CSA of each muscle to the sum of CSA of TA, TP, and PL, were also compared. Correlations between the degree of change in FFI, each muscle’s CSA ratio, RCSP angle, and radiographic measurements were investigated. @*Results@#Following RFO application, significant increase in the PL ratio and CP and significant decrease in the RCSP angle, FFI total, pain, and disability scores were observed. The degree of change in the total score, pain, and disability score of FFI were significantly correlated with the degree of change in the PL ratio and RCSP angle. @*Conclusion@#RFOs applied to children with symptomatic flexible flatfoot might reduce the compensatory activities of the ankle invertors, thereby increasing the PL ratio, and pain decreases as the PL ratio increases.

ABSTRACT

Background@#Silver-Russell syndrome (SRS) is a pre- or post-natal growth retardation disorder caused by (epi)genetic alterations. We evaluated the molecular basis and clinical value of sequential epigenetic analysis in pediatric patients with SRS. @*Methods@#Twenty-eight patients who met ≥ 3 Netchine-Harbison clinical scoring system (NH-CSS) criteria for SRS were enrolled;26 (92.9%) were born small for gestational age, and 25 (89.3%) showed postnatal growth failure. Relative macrocephaly, body asymmetry, and feeding difficulty were noted in 18 (64.3%), 13 (46.4%), and 9 (32.1%) patients, respectively. Methylation-specific multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MSMLPA) on chromosome 11p15 was performed as the first diagnostic step. Subsequently, bisulfite pyrosequencing (BP) for imprinting center 1 and 2 (IC1 and IC2) at chromosome 11p15, MEST on chromosome 7q32.2, and MEG3 on chromosome 14q32.2 was performed. @*Results@#. Seventeen (60.7%) patients exhibited methylation defects, including loss of IC1 methylation (N = 14; 11 detected by MS-MLPA and three detected by BP) and maternal uniparental disomy 7 (N = 3). The diagnostic yield was comparable between patients who met three or four of the NH-CSS criteria (53.8% vs 50.0%). Patients with methylation defects responded better to growth hormone treatment. @*Conclusions@#NH-CSS is a powerful tool for SRS screening. However, in practice, genetic analysis should be considered even in patients with a low NH-CSS score. BP analysis detected additional methylation defects that were missed by MS-MLPA and might be considered as a first-line diagnostic tool for SRS.

ABSTRACT

Background@#Voiding dysfunction is a rare complication of herpes zoster but impairs patients’ quality of life. @*Objective@#We investigated the clinical features and progression of zoster-associated voiding dysfunction based on the clinical presentation of urological symptoms and sites of zoster. We also investigated factors associated with delayed improvement in urological symptoms. @*Methods@#This retrospective study included 54 patients diagnosed with both herpes zoster and voiding dysfunction within a 15-day period at the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital between March 2000 and April 2019. Urological symptoms included voiding (urinary retention) and storage (cystitis and overactive bladder) symptoms. @*Results@#Patients were aged 22∼92 years (median 68.5 years), including 19 males (35.2%). We observed sacral, thoracic, lumbar, trigeminal, and disseminated zoster (44.4%, 31.5%, 18.5%, 1.9%, and 3.7%, respectively). Thirty-one patients (57.4%) showed voiding symptoms (61.3% with sacral zoster), 18 (33.3%) showed storage symptoms (83.3% with thoracolumbar zoster), and 5 (9.3%) had both symptoms. The median recovery time from urological symptoms was 14.5 days (3∼150 days), significantly longer in patients with voiding symptoms (22 days [5∼150 days]) than with storage symptoms (10 days [3∼35 days]) (p=0.001). Patients with prolonged urological symptoms (>4 weeks vs. ≤4 weeks) were older (73 years [57∼92 years] vs. 68 years [22∼88 years]), more likely to be male (57.1% vs. 23.7%), and showed persistent pain (35 days [7∼700 days] vs. 23 days [9∼180 days]) (p<0.05). @*Conclusion@#Voiding dysfunction in patients with zoster warrants attention. Delayed recovery of voiding function is associated with old age, male sex, and persistent pain.
